C.O.P.P.A. stands for the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. In general, it states that we (the web site) cannot collect any personal information - that is, name, address, telephone number, or email address - from any child under the age of thirteen.
The only exceptions to this rule are:
- if we have written parental permission on file before collecting the information;
- if we collect the information to satisfy a user's one-time request for service and delete the information immediately following fulfillment of that request; or,
- if we collect a child's name and/or online contact information to protect the security or liability of the web site, or to respond to law enforcement, if necessary - but we cannot use this information for any other purpose.
